Equine Assisted Learning
Equine assisted learning or “EAL” is a component of a larger field of practice called Equine Assisted Services. EAL is a form of experiential learning or a process where one learns through direct experiences, reflection and application of those experiences to daily life. EAL is effective across wide range of individuals from toddlers to seniors; diverse health conditions including mental through physical health and truly anyone seeking a sense of wellness through feeling more present in their own minds or bodies. With guidance by a trained facilitator, EAL offers opportunities to practice and refine new skills and connect these skills to their daily life experiences.
Why horses?
Horses offer a unique opportunity to apply experiential learning. As “flight or fight” animals, horses live in constant state of “in the moment” and offer immediate feedback to increase self-awareness and foster personal growth.
